Born Dead Romans 6

This is a great section of Romans! Paul begins to explain the change
that happens in our lives as we grow in faith. We are not controlled
by sin any longer like we used to be! We no longer live immoral lives
or careless living for our selves—it has been drowned. That's why I
have to go back and refer to our Baptism Bash as we watched 63 people
step into the water we have the perfect view of what God is doing and
talking about as we see them go into the water--sin drowned washed
away & as they come out of the water they are raised out with Jesus
into new life! I am going to post our Baptism Video and dare you to
watch it with this in mind. You will begin to see the wonder of grace
that our Father gives us!

This gift from our Father frees us from our inheritance of birth. You
were born with an inheritance. I love talking inheritance language,
when we understand from our great-great-great-great-to the nth great
grand parents Adam & Eve their first sin earned us an inheritance of
death. This is not an inheritance we want it's SIN NATURE. Never-the-
less it's what we got when we were born. That's why we need to die to
that nature so that inheritance is realized and need to be given a new
life that in turn would give us a new inheritance and that's exactly
what Jesus does for us! Gives new life to all who believe and confess
Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have a new inheritance
forgiveness and the gift of eternal life.

So we are not born with the gift but given it in our new birth!

GOD'S GIVEN US GIFT RELEVANCE TO OUR LIFE

NEW LIFE vs 2-6 Sin's
power is broken, buried, & drowned.

NEW NATURE vs. 5, 11 We begin living in our new life, the
old is dead & gone we are alive to God.

NEW FREEDOM vs. 12-14,16 We live for new Master and commit
our life to Him obeying Him in our new freedom. The Holy Spirit leads
us and guides us in this new life.

How foolish would it be to receive a gift and then ask the person if
you could pay them for it? That's how foolish it is to think that we
can pay wages (earn) our salvation—it's a gift! (see Ephesians 2:8-9)
We have been saved because of mercy & grace not because of the good
things we have done. (Titus 3:5) The gift and inheritance we have in
Jesus is amazing. I love how the NLT Version says in vs. 23 "Free
Gift" May we keep that in mind always! It's with great anticipation
we look forward to eternity in heaven with the Gift Giver our King!

Roman's 6:23 is our memory verse from last Sunday. Have you memorized
it? Have you gone over it with your family and have they memorized it?
